What was the highlight of Dean Hamlet Hotel
Basic old apartments with poor kitchenette. Early closing swimming pool. But good location.
The location is very close to the city center, the beach and the nightlife's in St Julian's. The bedroom was big with 3 beds, and the bathroom was okay. Very minimalistic and a bit old. There is a small fridge, a microwave, but not enough kitchen appliances to cook. The swimming pool is also okay, but there were many restrictions.
I usually search for an apartment where I can cook, instead of getting a better hotel bedroom for the same price. Unfortunately it was not viable to cook in this apartment. The kitchenette was nothing like the photos. There were two cooktop stove burners, the bigger one didn't work, and the small one couldn't even boil water. We need to wait more than an hour to start boiling, so this was not useful for cooking. The microwave was dirty with oils and fat that would go into the food when heating. The water boiler was dirty with limestone. So cooking was not an option. When we arrived there was also garbage from the previous guests in the trash bin. The bathroom had cockroaches. We need to cover the air entrance with a plate so cockroaches didn't come in. The balcony is very small and very hot during the day, we cannot even put two chairs or a table there (in the photos it seems much bigger). The swimming pool closes very soon, and there's always someone controlling if you bring your own water bottle because that is not permitted. It feels odd to be there, so we only went once to the swimming pool. Maybe it's okay for young people that just need a basic place to sleep, but for us it was a bit disappointing.
